Happy Week-After-Memorial-Day-Weekend! It's been a little while, so here's the recap of what we've been doing lately:
The show with the Walkmen was really exciting. I forgot it was an all-ages show, so I should've left my Robert Plant pants at home. Just kidding. It was a great crowd, and we had fun dipping our tortilla chips into the bottom of the salsa bowl at the end of the night. Jeff and Joel handed out free 3-song samplers to the folks leaving the concert -- in pure, classic Sunset Strip style.
Last Friday's Long Beach show was insane. Another great crowd feasted on the smart, smooth sounds of Greater California before we brought our hits. Then Fielding rocked the place into a frenzy, and the fans still wanted more. Next time, LBC. Next time....
We've been playing one of our new/old favorite songs, "Inside Out," by The Mighty Lemon Drops, in the last couple shows. It's no coincidence, then, that we're hoping to work with David Newton, former MLD guitarist/songwriter and amazing producer/engineer (Fonda, The Blood Arm, Marshall Crenshaw, others). We've started writing new songs, two of which will hopefully surface on an EP scheduled for December with some live tracks. Stay tuned....
