Hey

Sorry for the delay in getting any new updates...
We have been very busy...
We have begun rehearsing and learning the new songs...
We mixed some songs for our publisher/administrator...
We played another acoustic set in Orange, CA at a good friends party. It was a great time...
Jeff finished another semester at UCLA...
Eric and Wayne went to some Angel games...
Happy has found her second calling; the pogo stick...
Trevis is still working on the beat for Sunday Bloody Sunday...

Tonight we had some friends over. TLF and Andrew D. Prickett have been laying keyboards for the last two weeks and we sort of hit a wall, so Senor Swift came by and laid some pads and melodies for us. It was a funny time to say the least. Also stopping by was Kevin Castillo of Castillo Lake fame to say hello and listen to some of the jams.

I think we are about two weeks away from begining the final mix.

In a nut shell,
c

2 songs mixed

In order to get 2 songs "finished" for a sampler CD, we've been burning the midnight oil this week.

Andy has been like Mr. Wizard at the helm, mixing his brains out and helping us find those last few elements that might push the song over the top.

So far, the results are fantastic.

We've done "You're Just Lucky" (formerly "Baja") and "Sunset", both of which will be included on a promo CD our rep is delivering to production companies in the film and TV industries.

In other words, they get the sampler, love the Foundation, use our music in a hit movie, pay us sick jack, expose our music to a huge audience, people fall in love with all the other international hits we've recorded since 1996, and the world is a better place.

Simple, isn't it?

Finishing the Fun

We're putting the finishing touches on "Face Your Fun": edits, keyboards, effects, percussion, karma, etc. This computer recording thing is pretty fancy. What used to take a day with magnetic tape can now be done in an hour with the magic of digitized sound. Brilliant, right? Wrong.

Don't get me wrong--it's really helpful. Especially when you're having difficulty playing that part exactly the way it's supposed to be played. You can make a digital edit and--boom!--it sounds like a million bucks.

The problem is that it gives you more time to think about options. Maybe that accordion part shouldn't be in there. Maybe my yodeling wasn't really the right thing to do in that section. Maybe the earth really is as flat as Michael Jackson's nose. So many decisions, not enough plastic surgeons...

In any case, sometimes you have to make immediate decisions to reduce the variables. You have to throw care to the wind. In MJ's case, you have to go under the knife. The key is to be able to pull the trigger when you should, and leave options open when necessary. And I think that's hard to do.

Anyway, enough of my rant.

For those of you in SoCal, we've got a rock show scheduled for August 4 at Silverlake Lounge. More details to follow.
