Hey all, we would like to thank everyone who has come out to the last few shows. Thanks to Dickie for letting us play with him and his National Sons of Freedom at the Detroit.
We have a show with some old friends with a new name, and some older friends with a newer name. It is on Thursday September 16th at the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest, CA. Gypsy Lounge, 23600 Rockfield #3A Lake Forest, CA 92630. 949-206-9990. 21 and over.
Playing with us September 16th will be the CoCo B's and Headlights.
The CoCo B's are Retriever/Kevin Castillo. The last time we played together was the infamous Lava Lounge show in Long Beach. They have released three ep's; one of which was a split with eskimo hunter/jason 71. All their ep's are amazing... think Guided by Voices and Wheat.
Headlights The new project from Absinthe Blind members (Brett, Tristan, Erin, and Seth). A 4-song EP will be released through Polyvinyl Records late summer/early fall. Absinthe Blind's "Rings" included one of the greatest live songs "The Break (It's Been There All This Time)" A truly moving experience.
The Lassie record, Face Your Fun is done. So come out and see some new and old friends play some real good music.
thanks,
c
I don't know why the club is called Detroit, because it looks like a hipster Silverlake joint. But there was a great crowd there, and we had a blast. Unfortunately, not too many people wanted to Jazzercise, so that might've been the last we'll see of that. As a friend of mine said, "If I showed up at 9, and you wanted to Jazzercise at midnight, I would have. But I couldn't Jazzercise at 9." Fair enough.
Our friend Doug took some hot pics at Silverlake Lounge (he also took pics for the Euro release of El Dorado). Check it out.
The new album, Face Your Fun, will hopefully be finished in the next couple weeks.
we had a blast at the Fold at silverlake lounge thursday night. thanks to The Royal, Paper Pills, and Meow Meow for playing with us. it was our first club show in a while, and it was great to be back.
we saw old friends, met new friends, played new songs, played an old song. a good time was had by all.
and while not too many audience members wanted to Jazzercise with me, i think it's just a matter of time before we're all Sweatin' To The Oldies.
mind you, this is no trendy 80s revival, but the rejuvenation of fresh-sounding, energetic music into the oeuvre of the lassie foundation -- without the legwarmers and cocaine.
